Why is the clear coat peeling on my roof and hood?
Clear coat peeling is usually the result of long-term UV exposure breaking down the clear coat and its bond to the color coat, sometimes combined with original factory paint problems, thin application or earlier aggressive polishing. Horizontal surfaces fail first because they receive the most sunlight and heat. Peeling clear coat cannot be polished, coated or sealed back to health; the affected panel needs to be sanded and repainted.
