Why does tree sap leave a ring or stain after it has been removed?
Tree sap can leave behind oxidized residue or chemically alter the top surface as it ages and hardens in the sun. If the sticky material is gone but a ring remains, the remaining mark may be staining or etching in the coating or clear coat rather than leftover sap. A light polish often removes shallow staining; deeper marks may only be reduced.
