How do I remove sticker or decal adhesive residue from car paint?
Peel the sticker slowly at a low angle, warming it first with a hair dryer if it is brittle. Remove the remaining adhesive with an automotive-safe adhesive remover applied to a microfiber towel, let it soften the residue and wipe gently, repeating rather than scrubbing. Avoid razor blades, scouring pads and harsh household solvents, which can scratch or soften clear coat. Wash the area afterward and reapply protection. A faint outline, called ghosting, may remain where the surrounding paint has weathered differently; light polishing can often reduce it.
