Why does paint sometimes look hazy after polishing?
Haze can be caused by an aggressive compound, an unsuitable pad, soft paint, insufficient finishing or residue left on the surface. A finer polish and an appropriate finishing pad can often restore clarity if the haze is polishing-induced rather than a deeper scratch or paint problem. Remove polish residue with a panel wipe before judging, because residue alone can look like haze.
