What shortens the life of a ceramic coating?
The most common causes are poor surface preparation, harsh wash chemicals, abrasive washing and constant environmental exposure. Coatings applied over residue or without proper decontamination bond weakly. Strong alkaline pre-washes, shampoos containing solvents or alcohol, brush car washes and dirty wash media wear the coating down, while UV, heat, bird droppings and mineral deposits attack it chemically. Hand washing with a pH-neutral shampoo, prompt contamination removal and periodic toppers all help a coating reach its expected life.
