Can I polish over a stone chip or paint chip?
Avoid it. The edges around a chip are thin and fragile, and a polishing pad can catch them, lift more paint or burn through. Polishing also cannot fill the missing paint. Repair the chip with touch-up paint first, let it cure fully, level it carefully if needed and then polish the surrounding area with light pressure, keeping the pad away from raised edges.
