Why does my microfiber drying towel push water around instead of absorbing it?
New towels sometimes need a wash to remove manufacturing residue before they absorb fully. Towels washed with fabric softener lose absorbency, and a towel that is already saturated simply moves water. Very slick coatings or drying aids can also make water glide rather than soak in. Wash the towel properly, wring it out as you work and use a second towel for large vehicles.
