Does washing a car in direct sunlight damage the paint?
Sunlight itself does not instantly damage paint during washing, but it heats panels and makes water and chemicals dry quickly. This increases the risk of water spots, detergent marks and uneven chemical action, especially with stronger cleaners. Shade and cool panels are preferable. If you must wash in the sun, work one panel at a time, keep the car wet and dry each section promptly.
