Can wheel cleaner damage brake calipers or rotors?
Most automotive wheel cleaners are safe on painted calipers when used as directed, but strong acids or long dwell times can stain or damage caliper paint and hardware. Brake rotors often show light surface rust after washing, which is normal and disappears after the first few stops. Never apply tire dressing, wax or coating to rotors or pads, because anything on the braking surface reduces stopping performance.
