Does a fabric protector make car seats waterproof?
No. Fabric protectors make textiles water-repellent, so spills bead on the surface and can be blotted before soaking in, but liquids will still penetrate under pressure or if left standing. Protection also wears with use and cleaning and needs reapplying. Apply it to clean, completely dry fabric, and test colorfastness on a hidden area first.
