Can tar and adhesive removers damage plastic, rubber or vinyl?
Some can. Solvent-based tar and adhesive removers can soften, swell or discolor certain plastics, rubber seals, vinyl wraps and paint protection film, and they can strip waxes and sealants. Check the label for surface compatibility, test on a hidden area first, keep dwell times short and wash the area afterward to remove solvent residue. Apply the remover to a towel rather than spraying it near seals or film edges, where it can seep in and act for longer than intended.
